Prilosec
A highly effective inhibitor of gastric acid secretion used in the therapy of gastric ulcers and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. The drug inhibits the H(+)-K(+)-ATPase (H(+)-K(+)-EXCHANGING ATPASE) in a pH-dependent manner. This ATPase is considered the proton pump in the secretory membrane of the parietal cell.
